But this isn't human.
This is 118 years of USA born healthcare. Natural healing at its finest. Chiropractic just celebrated its 118 th birthday. Most people don't mark it on their calendars, but for millions of Americans it's an important day.
If you haven't seen the movie "Doctored", then appreciating the adversity chiropractic has gone through to be here, still standing, is hard. You can check the movie out from the office anytime.
In the early days, chiropractors were put in jail.
Imagine that!
So how did chiropractic survive 118 years of adversity, especially from one of the most powerful organizations on earth?
For one reason, chiropractic is HOPE.
I see it every week, People show up at our door, out of hope, ready to give up. We are the last train stop.
“In a nutshell… Dr. Altman saved my life. When I first came to Dr. Altman 6 weeks ago I felt hopeless. I’m 36 years old and I truly felt that I was dying. I was so deeply entrenched in medical problems and worries since I was 6 years old, but I didn’t care what medications I took just as long as I could temporarily feel better. After all I thought didn’t have much longer to live, even my body support this feeling." -Monica Spees
Chiropractic has been around for 118 years because it's amazing.
I started about 18 years ago, because I couldn't get up off the floor. That kind of debilitation will get your attention, no matter how tough you think you are. Good grief, I already had bone spurs in my spine.
Chiropractic gave me my life back. So I welcome getting adjusted every week, because I know I won't be growing old like most people my age.
Yes, chiropractic helps keep you younger. It doesn't reverse aging but it certainly slows it down.
One of the most used drugs for people over 65 are pain pills. Why, their spines have been neglected for 40-50 years and the degeneration is extensive. As the joint malfunctions, IT hurts.
A good friend of mine is a chiropractor and I heard him say, "I never feel bad getting adjusted, but I always feel better afterward."
Nearly every patient goes through a cycle. Because the medical profession has beat people to death with the idea that there is a pill for everything, many patients have lost the idea that their bodies will heal themselves if given the chance.
"I don’t know what it is really to be without pain. Each time I have been getting a little bit better. My ankles are a lot better, my knees a bit yet, and my back. I keep on hunting for pain. I really don’t have too much anymore. Oh, I can also walk downtown now, and it’s just about a mile and come back and my ankles aren’t really hurting. I’m getting better.” -Ferne Davis
For most people, pain is the indicator of problems. Tada, it always is an indicator. But, it isn't the only one. I know people who have had cancer and no pain.
Gradually patients, and I was one of them, start realizing that health is the outcome of how you treat yourself, physically, emotionally, and chemically (food/water/etc.)
Why Grandpa is two inches shorter.
Entropy is the natural downward spiral of a highly organized "thing" to a less organized "thing".
If you build a beautiful house with every modern amenity, then never touch it for years, never mow, never trim the trees, never clean, never do anything, what happens?
In 10 years, you'll likely not be able to even see the thing.
Decay and Disintegration is natural. Your joints will decay if they don't function properly. How do you know? Two ways.
#1 You go see a chiropractor to check the function of individual joints. Most spinal damage is in structures that don't have nerve endings. (Like a tooth cavity)
#2 The surrounding structures are damaged and your joints hurt because a malfunctioning joint has more sensitivity to pain, and then you go to a chiropractor.
Not seeing me or another chiropractor or don't believe in chiropractic, you need to see the movie "DOCTORED".
Without active participation on your part, you will decay, just like rusting metal or a sea cliff. Check out the models in the office.
How do you combat entropy?
One word.
Ready?
Discipline.
You are in charge of you.
-What you eat.
-What you drink.
-When and if you exercise.
-When you go to the chiropractor.
-How you think.
-How you move forward in life.
You are you.
Are you looking younger than you are? or are you starting to wish for a sheet to cover up with for Halloween?
The good news, everything about you can change. The older I get the more of an authority I get to be. Here is the crib sheet to growing old gracefully.
Ready
1. Don't be lazy. Get outside.
2. Any exercise will do.
3. Must see a chiropractor. I see spinal decay every day from those who thought their pains would go away.
4. Eat "real" food, not from packages.
5. Drink good clean water.
6. Take Standard Process whole food supplements.
7. Constantly move to get better. No matter where you are, do a little more tomorrow. The couch is not your friend.
Health is your number one asset, not your house, not your car, not you boat. Don't believe me, ask any seriously ill person what they'd give up, if they could only be healthy again.
You WILL NOT naturally be healthy. The deck is so seriously stacked against you, you can't win without taking an active role. That means making the choices above regularly. If you need more, and I think most people, just need more knowledge, just sign up for our free classes. Yes, they are free. Help me change our society one person at a time. That's how chiropractic has survived 118 years. One amazing story after another.
Send me an email if you are stuck. docaltman [at] gmail [dot] com. Take action for your life and never look back.
This simple list is how to start and where to focus.
If this seems too complicated
Just go to the chiropractor regularly.
It's really that easy. People end up "old" because they don't actively take a role in preserving their health. I have 82 year old patients still jogging and doing Yoga. They did the things I listed above.
I know I'm preaching to the choir, but I see endless amounts of work to do. If I look around at people just walking on the street, or standing in lines to get their medications, or cars backed up waiting in a fast food drive thru, I know people need help.
Frank Kern Said" If you can help somebody and you don't, it's kind of bad KARMA on you."
To help further chiropractic and the world in general, print this and give it to somebody in need, or take a screen shot of it on your phone and bring it into the office.
