Our goal is to get people to understand that pain is
Usually the last thing to appear, unless you just fell off a ladder. ;)
Pain will go away at different rates.
Relief is most often determined by age, health status, diet, lifestyle, work, attitude, or the longevity of the injury.
The hard part is, most people think that, just because the pain came on yesterday, that it should be gone today.
One side benefit from long-standing injuries, is as a person ages, it becomes much more apparent that their body can't keep being neglected. 30 years old seems to be the magic age. If you're over 30, you know what I'm talking about.
Like most people, in my youth, I took some significant injuries. Now, because of my lifestyle, I need to be prevention oriented or I'll be in trouble in a real hurry. More than 50% of patients have lifestyles that perpetuate the problems.
You can often think of the body like a car.
Obviously, if somethings broke… Get it fixed.
But, the wrinkle is, without preventative maintenance stuff breaks a lot faster and keeps breaking down more.
And as the car gets older it generally needs more work.
Now, depending on how you use your car it may need more or less maintenance. People are no different.
If you don't believe me, come in and get adjusted, then go on vacation. You'll feel awesome for a week, then when Monday hit's, it will often be surprising how fast problems reappear. Stress and lifestyle problems become much more obvious.
One huge problem our society faces is smartphone-itis. You can't hardly go anywhere, and not see somebody looking down at their smartphone.
Problems we see from this are
- Headaches
- Neck pain
- Upper back pain
- Shoulder pain
- And even hand pain/ tingling
If you use a smart phone, you most likely need to increase your prevention of long-standing degeneration of your neck. Why, you might ask?
If you constantly force the curve of your neck the wrong way, it will catch up to you, later…
Degeneration of the spine takes years before you notice it as a symptom or pain.
As a patient gets better and pain goes away, they often start to move to a prevention mindset. The evolution of a healthy person accelerates.
I don't want you to misunderstand what prevention is. Most of the time, it is often mistaken for "early detection" of problems.
It's, kind of, like having a smoke detector. It is mandatory in the house, because it can give you an early detection of fire. But, it doesn't prevent you from leaving the stove on, with butter in the pan.
The vast majority of patients like to get adjusted regularly, myself included, because people have either lifestyles, or old injuries, or habits that are not conducive to healthy spine.
This is a text I got from a patient yesterday, after we had a scheduling mix up. "Oh ok had me worried for a second. I really do notice a difference when I'm getting adjusted regularly so I want to make sure I get in on schedule."

I was in the middle of writing this post when he sent it. It was a perfect highlight of what I'm talking about.
If you've been wanting to get adjusted on a regular basis and for whatever reason it just doesn't seem to work out, send me a quick email. We will figure out a solution, by the end of the month no matter what it takes.
Some of the smartest and healthiest people I know, are chiropractors. Chiropractors make up the largest group of natural health care providers. That's our business, "natural health".
You'll be hard-pressed to find a chiropractor, who only gets adjusted when their back hurts. Every chiropractor I know get's adjusted every week or two. Just something to think about.
The next step the patient takes, is changing their diet, so that will be part 3, next week.
You can always schedule an adjustment or even a consultation to talk about any solutions you need, on our site. SLCSAW.com
