"But, doc, my insurance will cover it!"
Your insurance only covers medical treatment and symptom management of diseases. That's it. It doesn't cover preventative choices, ie...organic food, clean water, toxin-free cleaners, etc.
The medical HR firm Jackson & Coker surveyed 3072 physicians. Check this out.
44% of the physicians are not planning on participating with the affordable care act (obamacare).
80% expect you will have to pay more.
60% of physicians think the Affordable Care Act will negatively impact quality of care.
51.5% of businesses are changing their health plans because of ACA. Of those companies, almost all businesses are raising costs to employees and dropping coverage.
Irregardless of what treatments you choose or the healthcare providers you choose, there is one clear fact. The whole system is broken. Traditional treatments are getting more and more expensive and alternative treatments can be just as expensive or even more so.
To give you an example, lets say you have cancer. Most people start with chemotherapy. But, lets say chemotherapy doesn't work for you. Statistically, it doesn't work for most people. Now, what?
Many alternative cancer centers treatment plans are in the $100,000 range. Most are outside the United States. There is a clinic in Switzerland getting 75% cancer cure rates, but you have to travel to Switzerland. There is a beautiful clinic in Mexico that can test you for anything under the sun. It's $4500 a week, just to stay there, plus testing expenses. Last time I called them, a cancer program started at $80,000.
I'll bet you can see this creates a real problem. You can get trapped in a real hurry.
I have some millionaires reading this blog, and this is a moot point for them, but 99% of the population doesn't have a spare $100,000 right now to hop a plane to Switzerland.
"But, doc this is a super-depressing post today"
Do you remember this guy?
I just want to move your brain to thinking about prevention more than treatment. We are going focus on this over the rest of the year.
One of our office missions is to just create awareness for you to new ways of thinking.
You don't have to be perfect.
This is actually pretty hard, so expect it to take some work, but it's worth it. The social programming of society, media, your friends, are not geared towards prevention. It's geared towards fast and easy convenience. I drive by a 7/11 every morning and it's packed with people stopping in for breakfast. I drove by a local fast food restaurant on my way to Target last week and there were cars lined up into the street. People couldn't get in the parking lot.
Ok. if this is making sense to you and you can see the writing on the wall, let's focus on stuff that really matters Cancer, Heart Disease, Diabetes, and Alzheimer's. Why Alzheimer's? Do you know how many treatments there are? ....Zero. None. Nada. Zilch. Prevention is your only chance of not getting this awful disease. We'll cover this more later.
The causes of cancer seem nearly endless, so we will cover more on that later. But, for now, the single most important thing you can do today to start preventing problems is stop consuming sugar. This one strategy can do you an immense amount of good and it doesn't cost you anything.
Sugar fuels cancer like nothing else, it sets the stage for a heart attack, and directly causes type II diabetes. To give you a reference, look at everything you consume in a day. Try and stay below 60 grams of carbohydrates in a day. If this is very difficult, consider this a wake up call.
This is a much better wake up call than a heart attack.
