For nearly everyone, there are some problems in this category. It is perhaps one of the most common. People are tired in general. The hard part as a clinician, is trying to figure out where the fatigue is coming from. Nearly every problem under the sun can cause fatigue.
Medications, lack of sleep, mineral deficiencies, vitamin deficiencies, subluxations, stress, infections, most diseases, adrenal gland problems, thyroid problems, lack of exercise, too much exercise, poor digestion, etc, etc, etc.
Fatigue is a very vague symptom, but also very debilitating. If I wrote a survey trying to figure it all out, you'd never do it, no matter how tired you were, because it'd be so long. Thyroid problems alone can have 300 symptoms. So what I did was put together some very common problems.
Do you know that one of the primary jobs of your body is to produce energy. If you want to walk from point A to point B, you need energy. If you want to digest food, you need energy. If you want to save a kitten from a burning house, you need energy. If you want to track down an antelope for your nightly meal, you need energy. AND...if you want to survive cancer, you need energy. People die when the non-cancerous cells run out of energy.
This is a monster topic, we will just cover some basic things to get you going.
Take a look at that first column. If you checked any of those, you will most likely need to deal with some adrenal gland problems. Your adrenal glands are the energy manufacturers. If you are tired and especially can't sleep well, this is a prime area to investigate. Your adrenal glands control your sleep/wake cycle.
I've gone through two adrenal crashes and I'm unfortunately well qualified to talk about recovery. These issues most often boil down to lifestyle and nutrition. It's the go-go-go lifestyle that ends up getting you. Think of it like trying to race a horse. If you start off whipping the horse in the beginning, you will most certainly end up last, at the end of the race.
Since, the adrenals make the energy you need, they need raw materials. My motorcycle runs very differently depending on which gas I put in it. Your body will run better with better fuel. Cereal in the morning, noodles for lunch with a "Energy" drink won't cut it. If you need or drink "Energy" drinks, this is just propping up your system with artificial stimulation. You're whipping the horse.
If you are really bad, there are tests you can do. Otherwise, cleaning up your diet will go a long way. This is a quite serious topic so don't take this lightly. The adrenals are also cornerstones to heart attack risk. We'll cover that later, but just know for now, weak adrenals are are major risk factor. Also, the adrenal glands are the only organ I know of with 2 healing herbs. All the organs only have one associated with them, ie...they're important.
Ok, now for the big daddy. Those last two columns relate to typical thyroid problems. This is one of the largest problems in America. Dare I say, the thyroid is the most important gland. There is something called Harrower's chart that tested each organ. Guess which organ is at the middle? The thyroid has interconnectivity with just about everything else.
If the adrenals make the energy, the thyroid burns it. It is like the accelerator in your car. So why is it such a big problem?
Here are the most common.
Fluorine- in your dental routines
Chlorine - in your water
Bromine- in your bread
Soy- in just about everything. This is the most well known side effect of soy.
Subluxations- in just about every ones lower neck. I have had direct experience with this. I had a patient in Minnesota with confirmed hyperthyroid blood work and symptoms. An adjustment to his lower neck made it all go away. He had hyperthyroidism because his spine was messed up. Hypothyroidism can also occur. The most common causes of either are car accidents, and jobs requiring looking down. This goes back to our section 1 article on the nervous system.
Here is something to keep in mind. General thyroid testing can be inadequate. If you suspect thyroid problems and you have a lot of symptoms, you most likely have problems, no matter what the tests say. This is a very complex system.
If you go in for testing and they only test your TSH, you might consider finding a different doctor.
The basic tests should include TSH, "free" T4, "free" T3, thyroid antibodies, and urine iodine.
At home you should also do Broda Barnes Temperature test. If that's off, you most certainly have some kind of thyroid problem.
Broda Barnes Thyroid test
Dr. Barnes noted that hypothyroidism often goes undiagnosed because blood thyroid values are usually inaccurate. He recommends a simple test, called the Basal Temperature test, which the patient can perform at home.
Dr. Barnes has found the basal temperature to be one of the most valid tests to evaluate thyroid function. The temperature test should be done upon awakening in the morning, but before leaving your bed.
HOW TO TAKE THE BASAL TEMPERATURE TEST FOR DETERMINING LOW THYROID
1) If you are male or a non-menstruating female, take a digital thermometer or an oral mercury thermometer (which has been shaken down and placed at the bedside the previous evening) and place it in your armpit for 10 minutes immediately upon awakening while lying quietly in bed. Repeat the test three days in a row. Normal temperature is 97.8 degrees to 98.2 degrees. If your temperature is low, your thyroid gland is probably underactive.
*************Note*************
DO NOT use an electric blanket for 24
hours prior to taking your temperature.
******************************
2)If you are a female who menstruates, do the above test on the second and third day of your period in the same manner.
3) If you have a very young child and you are unable to take his armpit temperature, you can take the rectal temperature for two minutes. Normal would be 1 degree higher than the above, that is 98.8 degrees to 99.2 degrees.
4)Record your results below and bring this record to your physician.

Date:________ Day 1: ___________________
