If I were to give you ten million dollars, you'd want it right?
But wait, you also have to take incurable cancer.
Do you still want it?
Then this is THE second question?
What do you appreciate most? Or what's important to you? This isn't the time for the politically correct answer. This is maybe a better way to phrase it.
What do you spend your free-time thinking about?
Is it your kids? God? your spouse? your job? your truck? your house? your cabin? your marriage? your health? the gym? your life? your education? your vacation time? Your purpose in life?
You know what you are supposed to say, but most people don't allocate their time according to what they say.
If you really can't pick one, that's OK. My list isn't that long, but I will tell you that health is in my top 3. When I started as a doctor, I started to help people, just like how I got help. Then I ran into a problem, people aren't like textbooks, I thought studying health just got more exciting.
I spent the next two years reading everything on nutrition and natural health I could find. And, to this day, when I have down time I read about health... and motorcycles( I've branched out a bit). When patients ask questions, I want to know the answers. So you could say, HEALTH is important to me.
Health is a form of work. It has to be a priority before you make time for it. It's like a smoker who always wants to quit, but never finds the time or motivation until they have cancer. Most people, myself included, need a motivator. My motivator was a significant injury.
Health is a form of wealth. If you didn't take the money above, then this will make sense. If you hang around enough successful people, health is a priority to wealthy, successful people. What good is ten million dollars if you can't use it? Health is more valuable than wealth. The second most common cause of foreclosure is healthcare costs.
It's easy to let health not be a priority. It's actually OK to not be a priority. I quickly found out when I started practice that health isn't a priority for every one. We all have free will to make choices, we are not free from the consequences, however.
Now, look at your list. Would being healthier make the top priorities better? ie... can you play golf longer, ride farther, play with your kids more, enjoy a hike in the mountains with your spouse, work overtime, change the world, feed hungry kids, make better meals, feed leprechauns eggs instead of Lucky Charms, etc...
The reason I harp on this, is because the older I get the more I appreciate good health. The more patients I see, the more the differences become apparent. Traditional healthcare only focuses on disease care, not really health care.
Here is something for you to ponder from Dr. Nuzum, he has toxicologist with 7 doctorates, and teaches at 4 medical schools. "The politics of medicine keeps people from getting better." You'll hear more from him in future posts.
"My name is Athena Dewaters. I started couple months ago in chiropractic because I had breathing problems. My body wasn't feeling right, and I thought a chiropractor would help me because of the hard workouts I used to do. So I thought that would fix that. Anyhow, I used to come in once a month. Then it progressed to doing once a week because I felt like I needed it. Well, now I feel so much better, but I don't necessarily need it once a week, I feel I have to do it because it makes me feel better every time I come in."
She came in because she had a problem, but now enjoys coming in every week because she just feels better. She's not in a crisis, but also doesn't want to be. This is a really good example of how the spine controls the organs. It's pretty amazing watching her in the office. She is a good example of being proactive instead of just being reactive.
Most of the time, you obviously can't feel this kind of big change, but your spine does control how your organs function. Remember...
Last week we talked about a medical study that found 100% correlation between diseased organs and rotten nerves that lead back to abnormal curvatures in the spine.
"The disease appears to precede old age and to cause it. The spine becomes stiff at first and old age follows. Therefore, we may say a man is as old as his spine, the arteries becoming hardened later from constant vaso-motor spasm, following sympathetic irritation."
If health IS a priority on your list, or you WANT it to be a priority, then I have some very big plans for you. I can't go into details right now, but this is something you will want to participate in. So...
I'm going to try and make this better for you, catered to you, and easier than ever to get healthier. I've been blessed with some very interesting discoveries as of late and I plan on bringing them to you, but you can help me give you more.
