If you have constipation, diarrhea, gas, or acid reflux (GERD) or take antacids like tums, Rolaids, any purple pills, etc, You most definitely should try this.
Take a teaspoon of baking soda and put it in some warm water, about one third of a glass full. Mix it.
Drink it.
It won't taste awesome, but just get it down.
In a few minutes, you should have some nice burps.
If you don't burp, or if you have some very small burbs, we should talk.
What that means is you have a very poor stomach acid function. It is the number one cause of antacid use.
Yes, I know that sounds like complete backwards talk. I get the same weird looks, and head tilts when I'm in the office and tell people they have too little stomach acid.
When you were born you had stomach acid to digest your food, that is the natural way.
Through various different ways whether it's damage to your nervous system, or poor food choices, or just advancing age, people start losing their stomach acid production.
If you can't digest your food properly, what do you think it's going to do?
It starts to rot, and rancify.
Your body is not dumb. It doesn't want rotten food going through you. So where is the next logical place for the food to go? Right, back out the way I came.
What do you feel? The burning of it coming back up.
What did doctor say to take? An antacid.
By doing that, you block your natural ability to get rid of rotten food and essentially force it down through your system. You can think of it kind of like having Road kill traveling through your intestines.
Any wonder why your guts might not feel so awesome.
Luckily this is a super easy to fix, and natural. We use an acid supplement from Standard Process, Zypan.
Now, there are a few other wrinkles to consider; ulcers, hiatal hernias, and spine problems, but there's ways to deal with those as well.
So you might be thinking, it's a lot easier to just take my antacid and go on my day.
The major problem is without strong stomach acid, you are not going to absorb food very well at all. You will become malnourished, even obesity is a form of malnourishment.
For example, calcium need to strong acid to ionize and be usable by your body. One of the great scams I see, is when people are told to take Tums with calcium, as a calcium supplement.
It completely violates natural physiology.
If you haven't burped by now, we should probably talk. This is also fun party trick.
